So pretty...
The new kid is making friends and even started trying to eat some seeds when mom needed a break earlier today. I know I am beside myself with glee. When she's not ignoring him and close, (I don't know what sex he is yet, he is just a letter shorter than she and thus is more efficient) he likes to yell and lower his head all I'm a baby put something in my mouth please like. This usually amounts in either she or dad throwing up in his mouth. It's awesome. It is very cool to watch the going ons in the larger dwelling because so much is going down lately. I guess that no matter the species, when you add a baby, things go fucking nuts-o. Momma and Daddy have been having a hard time protecting their offspring until lately. The spice finches have stepped up to help for some reason or another. They now stand vigil on both sides of the baby or crowd around him one way or another and when the piebald comes in for some action they are simply *there*. They are not violent, they're just in the way and blocking passage. If he thinks he's going to intimidate him they simply stare at him until he backs down. I like the spice finches. They're the strong silent types that like to help the community. Better them than me right? I like to think that first spice finch (Bob) was checking out the scene the entire time and repsorting back to Malcolm who came up with the plan of helping out the struggling parents. Malcolm is the foundation to this lovely bird haven. You can't change my mind. You want to prove me wrong? Come by and watch the finches for a while. This is best done after a long hard day when you need a little pick me up and don't want to deal with a hangover the next day... ahhh... now it's all coming together eh?
Anyway, here they are keeping an eye out while the parents take a break and do some catching up...
I wish these were better but everyone has a fit when I get close so the pictures were taken through the screen from a slight distance. Oh well.
They are looking right at me in this one. They have no problem flying at me if they see me open the door and clearly acting as a threat. Seriously, these guys would eat us if they were bigger...
Also, when concerning the dogs, we are now training class drop outs. I didn't enjoy the classes, I don't want to use tons of treats (come to find out Charlie has a super sensitive stomach... yuck) and I don't want my guys stressed while they learn. Oh well, it was fun while it... no... um... This means while out on the road I will be teahing my own dogs not to pull and further show them how to stay the awesome dogs they are. SWEET!
Okay, tonight was my second night at Muay Thai. I learned how to wrap my hands & wrists today and that was exciting even though I can't remember how any more. I'll keep asking and practicing... My shins and muscles are killing me!!! Tomorrow I am going to see if I can start practicing grappling so my shins and wrists can get a break. I am enjoying it and I am going to continue going until I leave. See, here's how I'm looking at it... When I am out on my own, I don't want to be helpless. The grappling will help me break holds and get away and the kicking punching will mean I can hurt them quite badly after said hold is broken. And they will have had it coming just for trying something funny. So there. I am enjoying this but I have to get used to the idea that I should punch people in the face when I am having a good time. Maybe I should practice when at work and at home just to get the feel of it? Once I get my super cute hair cut (I don't know how much longer I can wait truth be told) I will have a reason to get up and go to the 6 a.m. classes. That way I can get used to getting up early for the long drive and I can also have a reason to style my hair in the morning. I usually shower at night so this will be a huge change all around. I'm sort of looking forward to it in that weird I like pain sense. I would happily be a slicer were it not for the blood. As it is, I'm going to settle for early mornings and lots of bruises from fighting people that know what they are doing.
Stay warm, stay cool. :)
PS If any of the references to me being on the road are confusing, it's because I forgot to mention that I am leaving this lousy state and driving far away. West. I'm going west. Worry not, it will be blogged.
